Arturo Fermandois

Arturo Fermandois is a Senior Director at Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm. He was the Ambassador of Chile to the United States from 2010 to 2012. Based in Santiago de Chile, Ambassador Fermandois works with clients on business-related challenges and opportunities to help them in Chile with market entry, overall corporate positioning, and strategy.

Outside of ASG, Ambassador Fermandois is a member of the Legal Circle of ICARE, a prominent Chilean organization that promotes excellence in entrepreneurship and business administration. He is also a member of the Chilean Association of Constitutional Law, and an Arbitrator at the Center of Arbitration and Mediation of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce since 2009.

In 1996, he founded Fermandois, Evans and Co., LLP., a firm specialized in economic regulatory law. His private practice, which included exhaustive supreme and constitutional court litigation, legal research and analysis, lasted until his appointment as Ambassador to the United States.

Ambassador Fermandois was in-house General Counsel of Banco del Estado de Chile from 1987-1996, where he was also Secretary of the Board. In 1993, the Government of Chile granted Ambassador Fermandois its prestigious national scholarship for graduate studies and became a Fulbright scholar.

Ambassador Fermandois is a Tenure Professor of Constitutional Law at the Catholic University of Chile. From 2004 to 2005, he was a visiting scholar at Harvard Law School and served on the Dean’s Alumni Leadership Council at the Kennedy School of Government.

Ambassador Fermandois studied Law at the Catholic University of Chile and holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (1994). He has written several books, among them: Economic Constitutional Law Volume I (2001, 2006), Volume II – Regulation, Taxes and Property (2010), and Applied Constitutional Law (2008). He is the founder and editor of the annual selection book of top Chilean judicial decisions, Supreme and Constitutional Court Review (2004-2010, 2012). Mr. Fermandois has also published more than 50 specialized articles in Chilean and foreign law reviews. His last paper is a comparative research on constitutional protection over contracts in the U.S and Chile (2012).
