M. Damodaran
Shri M Damodaran is a Senior Director of Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm. Based in New Delhi, Mr. Damodaran works with 9.9’s team to advise ASG clients on their operations in India.
Most recently, Mr. Damodaran served as the Chairman of SEBI, the Security and Exchange Board of India, where he brought improved practices to India’s securities markets. During his tenure, he was elected Chairman of the 80-member Emerging Markets Committee of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions.
Prior to his work with SEBI, he served as the Chairman of Unit Trust of India to restructure India’s largest and oldest investment institution. Concurrently, he was given charge of Industrial Bank of India, another of India’s major financial institutions, where he led its reconstruction. Earlier in his career, Mr. Damodaran held a number of important positions in the both the Central and State Governments and in India’s Financial Sector. He is widely acknowledged as one of India’s foremost champions of sound corporate governance.
