Press Release: ASG announces new partner and senior advisors

WASHINGTON, DC (April 21, 2016) – Global advisory firm Albright Stonebridge Group (ASG) today announced the election of Donald Gips as a partner. ASG also announced that Derek Mitchell, Isis Nyong’o Madison, and Ratih Hardjono have joined the firm as Senior Advisors.

Ambassador Donald Gips has become a partner of ASG after serving as Senior Counselor and leading the expansion of ASG’s Africa practice across the continent. He will continue to lead the Africa practice and contribute to the firm’s broader growth and strategy. His distinguished career includes public service as U.S. Ambassador to South Africa, Assistant to the President and head of Presidential Personnel in the Obama White House, and Chief Domestic Policy Advisor to Vice President Al Gore, as well as private sector experience in senior roles with Level 3 Communications and McKinsey & Co. 

Ratih Hardjono, based in Jakarta, joins ASG’s Southeast Asia practice as Senior Advisor, bringing decades of experience in public affairs and government in Indonesia. As Presidential Secretary to Abdurrahman Wahid, Ms. Hardjono established the first civilian Indonesian presidential office since 1965 and introduced freedom of the press to the presidential palace. Her background includes positions with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Indo Pacific Edelman, and APCO Indonesia.

Isis Nyong’o Madison, based in Kenya, joins ASG’s Africa practice as Senior Advisor, where she will use her background in technology and knowledge of government and business across the continent to serve ASG clients. A global thought leader on technology in Africa, Ms. Nyong’o Madison was Managing Director of Africa for InMobi, worked with Google on mobile and local content partnerships, and led MTV Network’s commercial entry into Africa. She was named one of “Africa’s Most Powerful Women” by Forbes and a “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum.

Ambassador Derek Mitchell joins ASG as Senior Advisor after serving nearly four years as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar (Burma), deepening and broadening the capabilities ASG brings to clients across East Asia. Previously, he was the U.S. Department of State’s first Special Representative and Policy Coordinator for Burma and served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Asian and Pacific Security Affairs.
