Keys to Investment and Expansion in Latin America
As Latin America and particularly Brazil become an increasingly important marketplace for multinational companies and investors, Ambassador Harrington draws on his strategic understanding of the region and experience as senior corporate counsel and co-founder of several technology companies to assist clients in designing winning strategies for investment, growth and problem-solving in Latin America.
Anthony S. Harrington is President and CEO of Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm, and a member of the Management Committee of Albright Capital Management, an affiliated investment advisory firm focused on emerging markets.
Ambassador Harrington works with multinational organizations on strategic challenges and opportunities, relying on deep experience, current knowledge and strong relationships. He also leads the firm’s Latin America Practice.
Previously, he served as U.S. Ambassador to Brazil during a time of unprecedented bilateral engagement between the two countries. He was nominated by President Clinton and confirmed by the U.S. Senate with bipartisan support in a record 12 days.
He carried out a mandate to upgrade the level of relations between the U.S. and Brazil and worked closely with both U.S. and Brazilian companies to strengthen business and economic ties. In recognition of his accomplishments, the Government of Brazil conferred on Ambassador Harrington the Order of Rio Branco, Grand Cross.
Previously, Ambassador Harrington was a senior corporate partner at Hogan Lovells U.S. LLP, a leading international law firm, and currently serves as international strategic advisor to the firm.
He formerly served as Chairman of the President’s Intelligence Oversight Board; Vice Chairman of the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board; and a member of the congressionally created Commission on the Roles and Capabilities of the U.S. Intelligence Community.
In addition, Mr. Harrington co-founded several telephone/technology firms, including Telecom*USA, the fourth-largest U.S. long-distance telephone company prior to its merger with MCI. As a holding company investor, he was also instrumental in the creation of Mindspring, Intercall and PowerTel.
Mr. Harrington is a member of the Managing Board of Civitas Group, an affiliated security industry firm, and a trustee of the Kenan Institute for Private Enterprise. He is also Co-Chair of the Brazil-U.S. Business Council and of the Advisory Council of the Brazil Institute at the Woodrow Wilson Center.
Mr. Harrington received his B.A. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Morehead Scholar, and his J.D. degree from the Duke University School of Law.
