Douglas ‘Pete’ Peterson

Ambassador Douglas ‘Pete’ Peterson is a Senior Director of Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm. Based in Bangkok, he advises the firm’s clients on Southeast Asia-related matters, and he currently resides in Australia and Thailand. Ambassador Peterson has a long history in the region, stemming from his service as the first post-war U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam from 1997-2001.

Previously, Ambassador Peterson served three terms as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Florida’s 2nd congressional district; was a professor in finance at Florida State University; and served for 26 years in the U.S. Air Force, during which time he was a distinguished combat veteran of the Vietnam War.

In 2000, he was presented with the Presidential Citizens Medal by President Clinton. Ambassador Peterson attended the University of Tampa and earned his Ph.D. in Finance at Central Michigan University.
