Mr. McGrath works with clients of Albright Stonebridge Group to develop and execute commercial diplomacy strategies as well as new opportunities for private investment across emerging markets.

Matthew L. McGrath is an Associate at Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm.

Mr. McGrath works with Principal Michael Warren and supports commercial diplomacy efforts on behalf of ASG clients, with particular emphasis on Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. He works with companies to interpret global political and economic dynamics and then develop strategies to engage key government and business leaders for optimal positioning in priority emerging markets.

Mr. McGrath also works closely with Albright Capital Management, an affiliated emerging markets alternative investment firm, providing international political advice and identifying new private investment themes and opportunities.

Prior to joining Albright Stonebridge Group, Mr. McGrath worked as Advance Associate and National Security Affairs Intern for Vice President Joe Biden at the White House. In these capacities, he worked in support of the Vice President’s diplomatic portfolio, meetings, and international trips. In Washington, the broader U.S, and Europe, he worked to coordinate and execute successful public diplomacy for President Obama and Vice President Biden.

In Paris, France, Mr. McGrath served in the office of Ambassador Craig Stapleton at the U.S. Embassy as the 2008 State Department Pamela Harriman Foreign Service Fellow, supporting the Ambassador’s business and Embassy public affairs outreach.

In Brussels, Belgium, Mr. McGrath worked at the European Parliament for the United Kingdom Conservatives, supporting Dr. Syed Kamall, Member of European Parliament for London. There, he drafted legislation for the E.U. Telecommunications Framework Directive, the E.U.’s ten-year regulatory and market reform of the telecommunications industry, and worked on the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.

In Democratic politics, Mr. McGrath has worked in legislative affairs for Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts and interned in communications at the Democratic National Committee in Washington. In 2008, he chaired Vanderbilt Students for Barack Obama, leading student fundraising, grassroots, and visibility efforts in Nashville, Tennessee. He has also worked in operations for Hearts On Fire, a premier international branded diamond company based in Boston.

Mr. McGrath earned a B.A. cum laude in Political Science from Vanderbilt University and holds a Diploma in Professional French from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris. While at Vanderbilt, he contributed to Professor M. Donald Hancock’s books Politics in Germany (CQ Press) and Politics in Europe (Chatham House). Mr. McGrath serves on the advisory board of the Pamela Harriman Foreign Service Fellowship.
