Distinguished diplomat expands ASG’s expertise
in India, China, Europe, and Latin America
JANUARY 30, 2019 (Washington, DC) – Albright Stonebridge Group (ASG), the global business strategy and commercial diplomacy firm, announced today that Nirupama Rao has joined as Senior Advisor.
Based in Bangalore, Ambassador Rao brings more than four decades of distinguished diplomatic experience, including serving as India’s Foreign Secretary and as its ambassador to China and the United States. She also served as India's ambassador to Sri Lanka (High Commissioner), Peru, and Bolivia.
While serving in India’s Ministry of External Affairs, she spent eight years in the East Asia division where she specialized in India-China relations. Her global diplomatic experience extends to Russia, where she served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Moscow.
She has most recently served as a visiting professor at Columbia University’s School of International Public Affairs, where she continued her work and research on the relationship between China and India. Her new book entitled, “Tell it on the Mountain: India and China, 1949-1962”, will be released at the end of 2019.
