Senior Vice President Atman Trivedi discussed the U.S.-India Trade Policy Forum with Inside U.S. Trade: 

"The [U.S. Generalized System of Preferences] program seems less likely than not to get reinstated in the lame-duck session of Congress. That makes it difficult to reach serious and substantive outcomes in trade talks."

"That reality may have contributed to the decision to postpone the forum until early next year...India can, at times, be reticent about its interest in the GSP program. But my own sense is that there is an interest, and the reinstatement of GSP and India qualifying for benefits under the GSP program would be a significant step in facilitating positive trade outcomes.”
