Sanjay Choudhry is a Senior Adviser with ASG’s South Asia practice, where he helps client corporations, industry associations, and non-profit organizations successfully meet their goals in government and regulatory affairs, policy advocacy, and public relations.
Mr. Choudhry has over 35 years of experience in the public affairs and communications in major Indian and multinational corporations, particularly in the steel and FMCG sectors. He spent 24 years with Tata Steel, India’s largest steel firm and the flagship of the highly respected Tata Group. At Tata Steel he led Corporate Affairs & Communications during its acquisition of Corus Steel of UK, Natsteel of Singapore, and Millenium Steel of Thailand. He has also headed the communications efforts for steel and mining projects in Vietnam and South Africa, in addition to green-field projects in several Indian states. Previously, he led corporate affairs and marketing at Coca-Cola India, during its re-entry to India in the mid-nineties.
Prior to joining ASG, Mr. Choudhry served as Associate Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Vedanta Resources, a mining and metals conglomerate headquartered in London. Based in New Delhi, he was responsible for the company’s interface with the central and relevant state governments, policy intervention, crisis management initiatives, and representation in industry bodies, in addition to managing relationships with NGOs and the media across India.
Mr. Choudhry has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), one of India’s best rated and its oldest management schools.
He is currently based in New Delhi, India, and has worked in most parts of India. He is proficient in English and Hindi, and speaks fluent Bengali.
