Press Release: ASG Announces Anthony Cino as Principal; William Grant and Michael Madnick as Senior Advisors

June 15, 2021 (Washington, DC) – Albright Stonebridge Group (ASG), the premier global strategy and commercial diplomacy firm and part of Dentons Global Advisors, announced today that Anthony Cino has been elected Principal. The firm also announced Senior Advisors William Grant, a former senior U.S. diplomat with experience across the Middle East, and Michael Madnick, an expert in sustainable international development and philanthropy.

Anthony Cino has helped lead ASG’s work in the health and life sciences sector since joining the firm in 2012. In recent years, he has been centrally involved in conceiving, launching, and growing the rapidly expanding ASG Health practice with an extraordinary group of clinician and non-clinician colleagues. He will continue to co-lead the practice alongside ASG Chief Medical Officer Mehul Mehta, MD and Gilbert Mudge, MD while serving in his new role as a Principal of the firm. Prior to joining the firm, he led international advocacy for China and much of Asia at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). He previously served at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration, where he worked to maximize market access for healthcare and financial service companies in China. During his government tenure he served at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and supported major U.S.-China bilateral dialogues.

“We are incredibly proud to welcome Tony as a Principal of ASG,” said Ambassador Anthony Harrington, Chair of the ASG Managing Board. “Over the last nine years, he has worked to expand our capabilities in the health and life sciences sectors and to provide clients with top-tier solutions to their most pressing needs, including with the launch of ASG’s Health practice. Both our clients and the firm have benefited from Tony’s leadership and expertise, and never more so than during this past year in which health issues have been paramount.”

ASG's Health practice supports health care leaders and organizations in realizing transformative growth and impact in markets around the world.

William Grant joins ASG after a distinguished 35-year career in the U.S. Foreign Service, most recently serving as Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Doha, Qatar. He has held a range of senior diplomatic roles during his career, including Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Israel, Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Basra, Iraq, Political Minister Counselor at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, and Senior Advisor for Iraq in the State Department’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, among others.

“Bill offers our clients singular insights developed over decades on the ground as a diplomat in the Middle East, alongside a deep knowledge of international diplomacy and economic affairs,” said Prem Kumar, ASG Principal and lead of the Middle East & North Africa practice. “His perspective will be of immense value as clients navigate complex risks and opportunities across the region.”

Michael Madnick draws on his background in global development and philanthropy to advise nonprofit clients on strategic planning, government relations, communications, and partnership building. Since 2017 Mr. Madnick has served as the founding Chief Executive Officer of Mountain Philanthropies, and he previously maintained a selective consulting practice advising institutional and family foundations, multinational companies, nonprofit organizations, ultra-high net worth individuals, and government agencies. Earlier in his career, he held roles including Deputy Director for Global Health Policy at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Senior Vice President at the United Nations Foundation.

“A longtime leader in the field of global philanthropy, Michael is uniquely positioned to support our clients as they develop strategies to engage stakeholders across sectors and form high-performing partnerships,” said Melissa Estok, ASG Principal and lead of the Sustainability practice. “We are thrilled to welcome him back to ASG.”
