Douglas Peterson

Ambassador Douglas ‘Pete’ Peterson is a Senior Advisor with ASG's East Asia and Pacific practice, where he advises clients on Southeast Asia-related matters. Ambassador Peterson draws on years of public service and business experience in the region, including as the first post-war U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam from 1997-2001.

Previously, Ambassador Peterson served three terms as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Florida’s 2nd congressional district; was a Professor of Finance at Florida State University; and served for 26 years in the U.S. Air Force, during which time he was a distinguished combat veteran of the Vietnam War.

In 2000, he was presented with the Presidential Citizens Medal by President Clinton.

Ambassador Peterson attended the University of Tampa and earned his Ph.D. in Finance at Central Michigan University.

He is based in Bangkok, Thailand and Australia.
