Ambassador Douglas ‘Pete’ Peterson, based in Bangkok and Australia, is a Senior Advisor of ASG, where he advises clients on Southeast Asia-related matters. Mr. Peterson draws on years of public service and business experience in the region, including as the first post-war U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam from 1997-2001.
Previously, Mr. Peterson served three terms as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Florida’s 2nd congressional district; was a Professor in Finance at Florida State University; and served for 26 years in the U.S. Air Force, during which time he was a distinguished combat veteran of the Vietnam War.
In 2000, he was presented with the Presidential Citizens Medal by President Clinton.
Mr. Peterson attended the University of Tampa and earned his Ph.D. in Finance at Central Michigan University.
